ONE

So the temptation is to send out applications like confetti.
You might be better off considering each employer and role separately as they may have different needs.
Consider the following questions below and adjust your resume and cover letter to match. This shows bosses that you’re answering directly to the role description.
Ask yourself:
What is the role?
What is the employer looking for?
What can you offer them?

TWO

Now you’ve found the jobs you want to apply for and you’re about to send the applications. Hold up one second! Take a look at your CV. Would you stop in your tracks to read it? Is it eye-catching?
Try playing around with different templates to make it stand out and easy to read. Make sure you’ve responded to the selection criteria for the role you’re applying for. Is the boss looking for someone with a history in data entry? Show your relevant data entry experience.
Quick tips:
Is it easy to read? Think about how it looks.
Tailor it for your job role – highlight relevant experience.
Check it. Make sure there are no errors.

THREE

Now that you have your CV ready to go, the next thing is to impress your prospective boss with an attention grabbing cover letter. Think of your cover letter as a pitch – if it’s well written it will increase your chances of getting the gig.
A good cover letter addresses the role directly and explains why you’re perfect for the job. You should highlight just a few of your best and most relevant qualities from past jobs as simply and clearly as possible.
Quick tips:
Keep it simple.
Answer the job criteria.
Explain why you are ideal for the role.

FOUR

So, the CV and cover letter did the job. You got an interview. Well done!
But a job interview can be one of the most nerve-wracking things you’ll ever face.
Good news, there are ways to build confidence as you prepare. And if you get it right, the job should be yours!
Quick tips:
Be on time, or even a little early.
Dress neatly, look professional.
Be confident, friendly and smile.

FIVE

So what happens in an interview?
You could wing it, or you could follow the advice of experts and practise answering common interview questions so you feel confident in your responses when the pressure is on.
Consider questions like, “What are your greatest weaknesses?” or “How much are you expecting in terms of salary?” These questions can be tricky to answer, so spending some time carefully considering your responses will help you demonstrate why you’re the best person for the job.
Quick tips:
Practise your answers.
Talk about your experience.
Think about what skills you can offer.
